Dentures Harley Street

If you have missing or damaged teeth, you may need to consider complete or partial dentures. Modern dentures are natural-looking and comfortable, giving you confidence in your smile.

Why might you need complete or partial dentures?

At Dr Richard Clinics in London, we will always try to preserve your existing teeth. However, if you have missing or severely damaged teeth, then partial  dentures or complete dentures may be the best treatment option for you.

Missing teeth are not just a cosmetic issue. Significant gaps can cause problems with eating, speaking, misalignment – where the existing teeth move to fill the space – and may even make your face sag.

Different types of dentures

We offer several different types of dentures at our Harley Street practice:

  • Partial dentures to replace several teeth in a row
  • Complete dentures to replace all of your teeth
  • Implant retained dentures that are attached to your gums using titanium screws

What is the denture treatment process?

To be fitted for dentures, we first need to make an impression of your mouth. This will be used to create a trial set that you wear for a short period of time. We will then make adjustments to this model to ensure that the final dentures fit comfortably and securely.

If your remaining teeth are in a very bad condition, we may recommend removing them and fitting you with a complete set of dentures.

Living with partial dentures

At first, it may feel strange to wear dentures. But rest assured, you will soon get used to your dentures.

We recommend that you wear your dentures all day for the first few weeks. Once your mouth has adapted, you should be able to take your dentures out at night in order to give your gums a rest.

Wearing dentures should not restrict your diet. However, in the first few weeks we recommend that you only eat soft foods.

Your dentures will need to be cleaned regularly to avoid bad breath, gum disease and oral thrush. You should clean your dentures at least twice a day using a soft brush and leave them to soak overnight in a denture solution.

We take the time to ensure that your dentures are well-fitted and secure. However, some clients choose to use a dental adhesive to give them extra security and confidence.

Complete dentures

You’ll really notice the difference with complete dentures. They look completely natural, are comfortable and safe to wear, and will enable you to eat and chew normally again. They will add definition to your facial features which will look fuller again, helping to boost your confidence and restore your dazzling smile.

Implant retained dentures

Dental implants are an alternative to both partial dentures and complete dentures. The prosthetic teeth are attached to titanium implants fixed into your jawline, offering a strong and permanent alternative to dentures. Unfortunately not everyone is eligible for implants which cannot be fixed if there is significant bone loss; other health conditions may also affect eligibility. Implants are more expensive than dentures, but we do offer interest free payment options if you want to pursue this option.
